As screed is a type of concrete (sand & cement), it is prone to retaining moisture long after the rain has passed. This is a huge issue for waterproofers such as us because we can not apply our membrane over a screed with a moisture content higher than 6%. We can avoid this problem by implementing our channel drain system. 

With our channel drain system, the carpenter can install the chosen external flooring over the dropped (angled) floor joists or the wedges. Once that is completed our contractors can apply our waterproofing over the flooring and install our channel grate. This process will not only save on construction time but also reduce the chances of future leaks.

Future leaks with screeding? Since screed is a form of concrete, it is very rigid, which tends to crack as the structure of the balcony starts to move with the changing seasons. By eliminating screed from balconies we are able to use the chosen external flooring, which is flexible and able to move with structure of the balcony, therefore eliminating the chance of cracking substrate.
